20J016 Student assistant f/m/d

Estimating the employment effects of the hydrogen economy, with a focus on electrolyser and fuel cell projects

Hydrogen and fuel cells are on the verge of becoming alternatives to traditional fuels and batteries, with detailed strategies for large-scale investments put forward by the German and French governments as well as the European Commission. Important questions arise from these investments, for example where the future industry will be located, which regions will benefit most and what parts of the hydrogen economy create the biggest employment effects.

This activity is part of an ongoing project, aiming at further developing a model for estimating the employment effects.

The assigned tasks involve
- Decomposition of fuel cell and hydrogen electrolyser value chains
- Definition of industry development scenarios
- Work on indirect and induced employment effects
- Improving and testing the methodology and its results
