Position number 1270/2024
Description
We are looking for an individual with an independently acquired junior research group and the potential to represent excellent research and teaching in the field of nanophotonics at the KIT Faculty of Physics. The focus of the Tenure-Track Professorship should be in the area of novel optical metasurfaces. Therefore, the person to be appointed should address topics such as the conception, design, fabrication, and characterization of optical metasurfaces and their applications. In particular, tunable metasurfaces should be explored within the scope of the Tenure-Track Professorship.
The Tenure-Track Professorship “Nanophotonics” will be established in Division 5 – Physics and Mathematics. The future position holder will lead a newly established Group/Research Unit "Optical Metasurfaces" at the Institute for Nanotechnology (INT) and will contribute to work in the Helmholtz Research Field “Information” and especially in the program “Materials Systems Engineering”.
You will execute university tasks with a teaching obligation of 6 hours per week per semester, if you have been evaluated positively. In other cases, your teaching obligation will be 4 hours per week per semester. Adequate participation in course and special lectures on nanophotonics, in seminars, and other teaching events in the physics degree programs, as well as supervision of bachelor's and master's theses, is expected.
KIT offers an excellent environment for research in nanophotonics. In addition to providing the necessary technology for nanostructuring optical metasurfaces, there are numerous collaboration opportunities within the INT, the KITDepartment of Physics, and KIT as a whole. KIT hosts the Karlsruhe Center for Optics & Photonics (KCOP), the Karlsruhe School of Optics & Photonics (KSOP) for doctoral training, and the KIT Center MaTeLiS.
