Are you interested in working on alternative fuels production technologies?Become a member of the EIFER-team!The European Institute for Energy Research EDF-KIT EWIV (EIFER) is looking for aResearch fellow (m/f/d)in alternative (bio/synthetic) fuels production technologies, who will be part of the research group “Local Multi-Energy Systems”.The position, based in Karlsruhe, starts with a 2-years-contract and is available for immediate start. The salary is based on qualifications and experiences. (...)The group focuses on biofuels and synthetic fuels (chemically produced from CO2 / N2 and H2) like SAFs, methanol and ammonia. Extensive work programs are currently underway on various aspects:- strategic and economic analysis of the development of these fuels and their future role in the decarbonization of the economy.- technical and economic analysis on the conversion technologies, based on process engineering approaches.
- detailed technical studies applied to projects, related to the design, operation, and integration of the technologies in the energy systems.What you can expect
- Detailed technical and economic studies on a range of bio/synthetic-fuels conversion technologies.
- Contribution to the design of alternative (bio/synthetic) fuels concepts / technologies and their integration in the energy system (flexibility, environmental impacts etc.)
- Strategic studies and analysis for EIFER’s clients (operational entities and strategic department of a utility)
- Actively contribute to the development of EIFER’s research agenda and enhance its scientific recognition in the bio/synthetic fuels field:
o respond to public-funded project calls (European / German call for projects)
o maintain and expand EIFER’s industrial and academic partnerships in the domain through proactive engagement and networking.
o publish results in scientific journals and conferences.What we expect
- A master’s degree or equivalent in a related domain: chemistry, process engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering
- 5+ years professional experience in the field of hydrogen / biomass / synthetic fuels
- Rigor and respect of quality/cost/deadlines
- Team worker with the ability to work independently in a structured way
- Strong analytical skills and a critical thinking mindset
- Ability to convey clear and efficient messages, both verbally and in writing.
